About Castle Mountain
Castle Mountain Ski Resort offers the shortest lines, the most powder and an all-natural skiing experience. It is a full service ski area with all of the amenities of the larger mountain resorts, without the larger mountain prices!
A perfect compliment to the existing challenging terrain at Castle Mountain, a new triple chair has been installed which will service intermediate and novice terrain. There are 6 main runs that include an easy novice run, Buffalo Flats, to the west and progress to Sidewinder, a strong intermediate run on the east.
Anyone who found the past 40 years a little challenging at the Castle can now enjoy the beauty of the new mountain and the fun of skiing and snowboarding, with the new terrain now available on Mount Haig.
The new Huckleberry Chair will rise 330.5 meters accessing about 27 hectares of tree-lined runs. The average slope is 17-27 degrees and the longest run is about 2kms long. Haig’s northeast facing slopes ensure that plenty of natural snow will await you on these relaxed cruising runs. For the more adventurous, advanced skiers and riders there is well over 650 hectares of back country touring and extreme terrain.
In the summer of 1998, Castle Mountain undertook the biggest expansion in its history by purchasing the used Great Divide double chair from Sunshine Village and erecting it to the mountain's summit. This move instantly transformed Castle from a small, local ski hill to a true player with 1500 acres of lift-served terrain strung over a 2800-vertical-foot frame.
Castle revels in its position as the irreverent, independent mountain in the neighborhood. Come experience the NEW Castle something for everyone!
